This is Vin Diesel's new film - out tomorrow.
I really must go see it - if only to see what a fist they make of depicting witches.
-
Are you sure that's a good idea? You'll only want to throw things.
The friendliest film towards witchcraft I ever saw was an old Scooby Doo feature length story. It made the mistake of labelling witchcraft as bad and Wicca as good, but Wicca was treated fair and one of the characters was accepted by her mum and dad as a a wiccan. Howlingly inaccurate yet encouraging at the same time.

Sounds like accuracy might not be the or even an issue

I am even more determined to see it now. I could use a good laugh at the moment.
Any film that uses the word "warlock" for a male witch has just got to be rubbish! The have been many many "serious" films that have turned out to be damned good comedies!

As a non follower my favourite line on witchcraft is from Buffy where Willow refers to the University Wiccan group as Blessed wannabes.

Only because she is a witch.
The problem with American Wicca is that it bears about as much resemblance to the British (Gardnerian or Alexandrian) version as the Westboro Baptist Church has to the British form of Baptist.

I have this thought that I would love to go with you to see it
Would be fun. And BTW always liked that not de plume.

It was given to me by my daughters whenI converted to paganism and needed a name to use in Pagan and Craft company that was not my own name.
It is considered to be an extreme of bad manners to "out" a witch to non-witches, so other witches of my aquaintence needed a namr by which they could refer to me by when non-witches were present.
If you live within travelling distance of the Hounslow area, why not, but not from tomorrow until Monday and not on the 31st as I have a ritual that night.

Dear Owls,
Ever read "Good Omens" brilliant book, there is a Witch finder general in it ;) ;)

I'm dreading Halloween: all those strange people, wearing pointy hats. I'm keeping my cat in all day and night. ;)

Dear Bashers,
Bloody Americans have spoiled it with trick or treat nonsense >:( >:(

I agree trick or treat is something we could well do without.

Flippin Yanks! I shall have to hide all night on Halloween, not because I'm mean, but because I can't cope with Meg getting excited every time I go to the door. Ban them! Yanks I mean! :)
-
Never let my kids go trick or treating, although we do all the dressing up and stuff. I truly don't get it.

Actually one of the few films that I have seen that had even a minimum of accuracy was "The Craft".
OK - the ritual was a mixture of a Dedication and a sabbat, but the use of the three-fold Law was pretty good.

What gets mer is that the Americans go totally over the top with Hallowe'en - dressing up as witched, ghouls and ghosts etc!
But what they are celebrating in this rather spectacular fashion is a Christian festival and NOT a Pagan one. All Hallows Eve! And thus we have the spectacle of one of the most fanatic Christians on this forum decrying the way in which Christians act on a Christian festival.
:o :o :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) ::)

Chocolate sprouts and toffee onions are a good laugh for the older kids that knock on

Some people seem to think that Halloween is something Christians particularly "celebrate." Of course, that is nonsense: dressing up as witches, and wearing pointy hats is a practice some other people practice, and not just at Halloween! Most odd!
-
You seem to be referring to the Klu Klux Klan, BA. I know of nobody else who wears pointy hats.
Except bishops of course. And the Pope.

I think you lead a very sheltered life!

Not especially.
So who else wears them?

I reckon some of the dunces around here must have worn them!.

I get all my facts about witches and other mystical creatures by studying the activities of The Slayer and her Watchers council... and I'm pretty sure Buffy would never lie to me.
