Title: Dylan in Manchester
Post by: Alan Burns on October 28, 2015, 09:06:24 AM
Just been to see my childhood hero performing at the Apollo in Manchester.  It is thirty years since I have been to a Bob Dylan concert, and I was not expecting a great performance from the 74 year old Dylan, but wanted to see the legend one more time.

He gave a truly magical performance, earning a standing ovation after his second encore.  Brilliant!

Hi Alan

I too am a Dylan fan

Read a review of this concert in The Times which expressed surprise at the material performd little of the Dylan classics it said but a lot of show and pop tunes, it said.

You sound happy with the experience but what did you think of the material?

John

I would have liked to hear more from his extensive repertoir, but he gave a very good performance.  He had a great backing band and his interpretation of some Sinatra type songs came across with an unexpected quality.
