Poe's Law applies here. In other words, even if it's a wind up, the mere fact that the question of if it's a wind up or not can be asked demonstrates that there are more than enough examples of that sort of thing happening for real to make it plausible.

No, apparently, it wasn't and he was jailed for fraud!

This article is not listed on any of the "Internet Hoaxes" sites either.

I must admit it did make me giggle, even though it is desperately sad that some people are so gullible. This forum has one or two extreme Christians who are high up on the gullibility stakes!
