I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the other apes showed signs of rituals.
All this "only man makes tools" business got disproved years ago.
The saddest thing is wild chimps and other apes may well die out before we can discover their full potential and wild way of life.

But they haven't got souls tho!
Unlike us they are only animals.

We Hindus believe that animals have souls too. Higher levels of consciousness get added on as we evolve into humans.

Wow thanks Floo that hadn't occurred to me !

Is that what you believe?
I think if a soul exists at all, it would be something every living thing had.

Yes, my long finned Black Widows swim around and around the tank, all day and every day, thinking about the meaning of life. Plus they are just sooo spiritual.

It always surprises me how ignorant of the good book you guys are;
Eccliastes 3
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Indeed as Koheleth (the author) repeatedly says throughout the text, "all is vanity". I think you underestimate your fish and owe them an apology.

That's because the poor things are trapped in a man-made prison for their owner's amusement, rather than loving a free life.
Rather like god-believers trapped in their man-made beliefs, and unable to experience the joy of a free life.

I suppose you know that from your joy-o-meter and a little book of logarithms which give a level of free life.

Common sense should tell you that living freely makes for greater happiness than living a restricted life. The only necessary restrictions are those of your own moral code, and the law of the land ... both of which can be improved ... unlike religion which is locked in the past.

so your free..............but you're restricted.
I rather think you are restricted by ''The great Hector'' as Kenny Everett would have put it.

I understand that the concept is to wide for your blinkered mind to appreciate it ... maybe it would be better if you just zipped up. :)
