Title: Well that was odd
Post by: bluehillside Retd. on March 02, 2016, 12:03:59 PM
Just to say that for some unknown reason I've been locked out of this site for the last two weeks - "website not responding" or some such message every time I tried to log on regardless of which device I used. This is the second time it's happened.

My apologies therefore to anyone who was expecting a reply from me.

Just out of interest, while I've been away have any of the Hope, Alan, Vlad etc cohort had a blinding epiphany and abandoned using logical fallacies to argue their case?

No not at all bluehillside.  Only reasoned arguments, as we all do.
Good that you are no longer locked out.

It's something that appears to happen to some people on this site, bluey - I haven't had it myself but I know that several others have. Being relatively non-technical I couldn't tell you why.

As for your final point ... dream on! They're as bad as ever.

I've been locked out for three days before. No idea why.

Yeah, it's happened to me.  I just assumed that it was the usual demons at work.   Spooky.

This is obviously proof of the supernatural that we so desperately want.

What is "reasoned" about believing something for which there is zero evidence?

Something similar happened to me - I was getting 'connection time out' in January for about a month whenever I tried to access this site from home, no matter what device, what matter what OS, no matter what browser.

That assumes that there is no evidence, Len.  Unfortunately, since the evidence is by its very definition, non-naturalistic, those here who insist that evidence has to be naturalistic will never be able to see it.

You've had this mistake corrected over on the "Put me out of my misery" thread.

Thanks too to those of you who've welcomed me back from my unexpected absence.

When IE won't put me through to R&E, I go to GH, or IS then try again for R&E and it usually works, but I expect you have tried that.

GH - Graham Hancock message boards This was the first I joined and still take a look at fairly regularly even though I don't post anywhere near as much.
IS - International Sceptics (used to be JREF James Randi Educational Forum)

I summon up the spirit of Beelzebub, in the usual way, by twirling underpants round my head, while chanting 'City are a load of shite', and it usually works.

I find this works sometimes if I go to the Beeb and then back here.

Which makes me realise that the only thing we gained from blue's absence was less of your stupid answers to him.

Look Len. Hillside was driven into the internet wilderness.
I know that will be a sign to his disciples that he is truly their messiah.....but to me he is still a very naughty boy.

There's a possibility that it's to do with a filter on the hosting software, at least sometimes. It has some very odd ideas as to what should and shouldn't be said and can randomly freeze people out as a consequence.

We once tried to figure out some of the trigger phrases and accidentally froze ourselves out after using the word 'woman' with a word that rhymes with 'say'.

Don't try this at home, folks.
