Zac is a rich kid who has never had to shat on anybody. He is not the nastiest member of the Tory Party.

Maybe so, but he's run a deeply dishonest and borderline racist campaign

The Tory campaign in London seems to be based on the equation, Khan is a Muslim = radical = extremist.   Wow, I never thought I would see this in British politics.   And Cameron seems to be chipping in at PMQs.

It's his campaign team, not so much him. What they should have done was to attempt to associate Khan with concrete & tarmac, rather than try to smear him with silly "extremist links".

FTR tomorrow I shall write "I am a Kentishman not a Londoner" on the ballot paper. Fluck 'em all.

Not following what is happening in London at all, but it may be best to get used to it. Khan uses his Muslim identity widely as does the party he represents in areas where it helps to gather in the not insignificant Muslim vote. After all, Khan is part of the global community bound together by the same religion and Muslims could easily expect him to do things for Muslims because of this.

Policy politics will diminish if this continues.

Uncle Toms - One who is slavish and excessively subservient, particularly a black or brown person who behaves in such a manner to white people; or any person perceived to be complicit in the oppression of their own group.

But of course, he's sorry.

What an idiotic thing to say, he might have guessed it would come back at him - but it was 2009.
Sadiq Khan seems the best of the bunch, he promises quite a lot for Londoners.  Don't they all.  It would be nice to have a Mayor from a workers' background.  I've just been reading his campaign leaflet and am thinking of voting for him on Thursday.  No-one else appeals to me.

JP

My husband said that at last Friday's midday congregational prayer (Jummah) one of the Muslims attending prayers was distributing leaflets campaigning for Zac Goldsmith so Khan is not sure of getting all the Muslim votes - people I know are voting based on what they think will be more beneficial to the economy and ability to deliver services.

So either he isn't capable of controlling his campaign team, in which case he is incompetent, or he is running a borderline racist campaign.
