Title: versailles
Post by: wigginhall on June 09, 2016, 12:28:44 PM
Anybody watching this?  My view - absolutely sensational.   Lots of lace and bonking, transvestism, a terrific gardening project,  Timotei hair flowing everywhere, esp. on the men,  interesting actors, esp. Phillippe d'Orleans, did I mention wolves and black dwarfs?  By gum, I am enjoying this.   Best line so far - Phillippe says to Louis, and you're fucking my wife; Louis replies: someone has to.

I haven't seen it though I intended to - and missed.
I've enjoyed reading comments about it in the Sunday Times 'You say' - one commentator said it made her husband wear more make up.  I also understand King Louis was concerned about 'cashflow'.

I'll definitely catch it second time around, it sounds a hoot.

I'm hooked, one of the best things on the box right now.

I now want to record all of the rest of the series and watch it all in one big Versaillesfest, but I'm not sure I could resist dipping in before the end!
 ;D

Missed it when it first started - as I had other things to do, but recorded the episodes and watched Ep. 1 a week ago, and then Eps 2 and 3 yesterday.  Brilliant, and an interesting insight into French political thinking of the time.

Citizen Hope, you did a far better thing than eating cake, I am counting my stitches.
