The other side of the coin.... and what we have escaped:
EUROPEAN political chiefs are to take advantage of Brexit by unveiling their long-held plan to morph the continent’s countries into one GIANT SUPERSTATE, it has emerged yesterday.
The foreign ministers of France and Germany are due to reveal a blueprint to effectively do away with individual member states in what is being described as an “ultimatum”.
Under the radical proposals EU countries will lose the right to have their own army, criminal law, taxation system or central bank, with all those powers being transferred to Brussels.
Controversially member states would also lose what few controls they have left over their own borders, including the procedure for admitting and relocating refugees.
The plot has sparked fury and panic in Poland - a traditional ally of Britain in the fight against federalism - after being leaked to Polish news channel TVP.

That does sound rather like a spoof - if they attempted anything like that there would be several members exiting.

Well, who knows. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
France and some other countries are already wanting to leave, and are thanking us for our decision.

This is another of the express reports

SNP anti EU?

IT is appearing in several papers here and in Poland.
It doesn't make it true I suppose, although I did hear something about having some sort of European army

Yes, I saw that as well, Rose. But haven't heard anything on the report as yet from the Beeb.

It's one to watch.... the EU is very powerful.

It seems rather unlikely considering that one of their main worries at the moment are the Leave groups in various member states. This would be a gift to them.

A novel idea as long as there is no proposal to bring back compulsory military service - something that might be proposed by people too old to be considered for it.

I think they'll be watching to see how the UK fairs and how UKIP wind up in the coming months when the consequences begin to show up. The sudden revelation of strategic faultlines in UK society is a very sobering thing...........and it rather looked as though Nigel was making a solo arse of himself to relatively little applause from other nationalist MEPs.

This is missing the point, rather. The EU are about control and dictatorship.

Sometimes one's freedom, which these countries are thinking of, is worth more than a period of recession.

I do realise you meant that, I merely jested.

If we were still in the EU, that would have got the veto.

Do you really think that a "newspaper" owned by a pornographer as an attempt to give himself some kind of face validity is a journal of record?

May you show us the way in self sacrifice in taking the burden of recession then. I admire your heroism and will recommend you for a medal and a pension and trust you will do the same for those who will suffer....
