These made me smile.
But it's true, it's becoming fashionable ;)
They are going down like flies.
Must be catching ;)

I hope Jeremy doesn't resign or get forced out - I rejoined Labour because he became leader. If he's dumped, I'll be back off to the Green Party like a shot.
-
I have wavered on this issue but am now getting off the fence and decided that Jeremy should stay. He is extremely popular and has touched a nerve with ordinary voters. I wish some of his colleagues were the same but believe his first mistake was sacking Hilary Benn. They all make mistakes though and there's so much more to Jeremy Corbyn than that. Let him stay and prove his worth.
-
Dear Brownie,
Just listening to some Labour MP listing Jeremy Corbyns faults, absolutely petty, I will be following this Labour contest with interest, I might even start a thread on Labour party snipes against Jeremy Corbyn.
Ad hom!! that's it!! it has been discussed on this forum, attack the argument not the man.
I like this Corbyn guy, he seems a totally honest person, don't know if he is Prime Minister stuff but he is a breathe of fresh air in all this back stabbing politics.
Gonnagle.
-
I think Corbyn should stay for the time being until they have an alternative candidate who would be a good party leader.
-
Agree with both of you, if he stays and proves to be ineffective or worse, they can always get rid of him - but he seems sound to me, so far, and deserves a chance.
-

Some of them would argue a pot plant would make a better leader than Corbyn. He's manifestly unequipped for the job. He commands the support of almost none of his MPs.
The country is tearing itself apart and he has said nothing.
-
Dear Jeremyp,
The country is tearing itself apart and he has said nothing.
What would you like the man to be saying, soundbites, shouting from the rooftops regarding brexit, back stabbing other politicians.
The problem with brexit is that we don't know what brexit means, nobody does, Jeremy Corbyn asked Cameron today about EU nationals in this country, the answer he got was, only if Johnny foreigner starts it first.
I can only hope that the Tories put the question of brexit to every politician, not just Tory politicians, every step in brexit should be debated in the House.
Gonnagle.

I think it is difficult for him to say anything atm jeremy. We've had plenty of ineffective hot air from others over the past weeks, which has come to nothing.
We'll have to wait and see what he says when he is either selected or not as party leader. He may well not be PM material, we've had plenty of party leaders who turn out to be useless as PM but we can't tell until they are in the job; at the moment the Tories are in charge and imo Corbyn is a good opposition leader, he certainly appeals to grass roots supporters and does have quite a lot of MP support.
This article is quite interesting:

He has stayed, he is ineffective and they can't get rid of him. For all the Corbynites who have joined there are unknown lost voters because of him, one being me. He strikes me as someone who would have been best mates with Chavez.
Can anyone tell me what he stands for, what his policies are, and i don't mean "Oh he is going to create a fairer society" as I have heard that crap all my life so don't include any pipedreams.

Dear JP,
Here's some stuff he stand up for.
http://jeremycorbyn.org.uk/articles/jeremys-corbyns-speech-at-the-local-elections-campaign-launch/
The man has been in the job for only tens months and he has achieved quite a lot, achieved it and at the same time dealing with his back stabbing cabinet, achieved and still not sunk to level of others.
He does take good advice, Mr Camerons Mammy told him to smarten up, buy a nice suit, he has taken that advice on board although I don't think we will ever see him singing the National Anthem properly. :P
Gonnagle.

Dear Brownie,
Thank you for your links.
Ending austerity
Protecting workers' rights
Blocking welfare cuts
Scrapping tuition fees
Creating a National Education Service (like the NHS for healthcare)
Ensuring the NHS is completely publicly run
Renationalising railways
Abolishing Trident
Withdrawing from Nato
Introducing rent controls in unaffordable areas
Investing more in the arts
I agree with all of them except for withdrawing from NATO, why?
And this is exactly how I see the man.
"I don't do personal, I don't do reaction, I don't do abuse. Life is too short and it devalues the political process. I think we should try and enhance the democratic life of this country, not reduce it to that level"

ta.....
I had read he has always been a protest MP and it shows as there is a fair bit of idealism attached to quite a few of those. He's too much of a lightweight Brownie. He lacks any passion or enthusiasm and I believe he would take the country back to the Scargills and Crowes waiting in the shadows.
I don't really get the point of him. I bet one of his mates will be Dennis Skinner who is most famous for being suspended from the Commons or just being generally, well, unfunny and embarrasing.
-
Cheers Gonners,
In an ideal world, not a lot for me to disagree with there but any news from the shadow chancellor on how this will all be funded. I have some pretty nasty memories from the days of previous labour administrations.
-
It gets worse.
Len Goodman the head judge on Strictly is calling it a day after the next series.
Oh truly the end days are upon us.
-
I wish the would call time on that programmes too, BORING!
-

The country is tearing itself apart and he has said nothing.
As someone said (can't remember where - on the radio I think), if he had any leadership qualities , he would have had far more to do and committees to lead, etc during his 40 years in politics. Instead he, it seems, has always been a loner.

I will miss Len and he will certainly be a tough act to follow - but life goes on Trenvoyager, don't fret!
'Strictly' is ace and part of the reason for its continuing success is Len, not many have his long experience. I'll be interested to know who the replacement judge will be. Hope Bruno, Craig and Darcey stay!

jp, you make some good points but all we can do is wait and see. I like him because he is a real socialist, or seems to be, and there aren't many of those left ( Hee hee, "left"), in the Labour party.
Who else would be suitable as leader of the party I wonder? Just saw SusanDoris's post and, yes, Jeremy Corbyn does appear to be a loner. He's quite brave considering all the flak he's getting.
-
Dear JP,
Well yes, Blair and Brown administration thought we were a bottomless pit, we had money to burn, and of course they gave the Wbankers free reign, they thought we could go on forever just spending, they thought our days of boom and bust were gone, how wrong they were.
Do you think Corbyn would give the bankers free reign, no, although I am against him in over taxing the rich but he would see to it that tax avoidance is stamped out, if you earn a quid in this country you pay your tax in this country, it is shameful that the big corporations earn millions from us and not pay back to the very country that they are profiting from.
I think the bottom line with Corbyn is, if we invest in people we will reap the rewards of a better educated, better equipped country.
Gonnagle.
-
The comical thing is that the Blairites are complaining about Corbyn's lack of competence, but that has to be one of the most pathetic coups in history. It's been like a combination of The Thick of It, and Dad's army, with Corporal Angela Eagle leading the charge.
-
Cameron dissing Jeremy's tenacity by comparing him with the Black knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
3 things
The black knight had a chin
The black knight had a spine
The black knight had a d**k
-

Would he, Gonners? Remember that all three parties have been working on that issue for the last 10 or 15 years. It is not as simple as just passing a law here in the UK, as there is no wau that the Government could stop people investing outside of this country. It involves agreement amongst a wide range oif other nations, too.
I think the bottom line with Corbyn is, if we invest in people we will reap the rewards of a better educated, better equipped country.
That has been the position of the Labour Party since its inception, Gonners. Unfortunately, few Labour chancellors have been able to balance the books in terms of income and expenditure required to achieve this goal.

The problem with brexit is that we don't know what brexit means, nobody does, Jeremy Corbyn asked Cameron today about EU nationals in this country, the answer he got was, only if Johnny foreigner starts it first.
Why the fuck didn't he ask that question during the referendum campaign?
He's useless, that's why.
I can only hope that the Tories put the question of brexit to every politician, not just Tory politicians, every step in brexit should be debated in the House.

I totally agree with this.

The man has been in the job for only tens months and he has achieved quite a lot, achieved it and at the same time dealing with his back stabbing cabinet, achieved and still not sunk to level of others.
And during the most important political period of my life time he was absent without official leave.
Right now the Tories should be on the rack. They are a complete mess, but the official opposition is nowhere.

To be honest Labour have never done coups well - indeed I'm not sure they ever done a coup. Unlike the nasty party I think they are just too nice - or at least they were. Not much evidence of the Corbynite gentler kind of politics from his supporters at the moment.

Two generalised and simplistic attacks there, but, of course, you are part of the good people.

Well, I watched Angela Eagle on Newsnight last night, and you couldn't really tell what her policies are. She was very vague, apart from saying that Corbyn is incompetent. Rather ironic, since she is part of a cack-handed coup. Apart from that, what is she on about?
-
Dear Wigs,
I hope you are taking notes of all the developments, this is a page turner, you could make your mark in history over all of this, I can see the headlines now, new book by unknown author, BREXIT, the book the they tried to stop.
Nicola Sturgeon could be the love child of Churchill and, well! any socialite, Boris could be a Nazi conspiracy, Farage, well he could be one of those agent provocateurs, just add a bit of sex, ( the number between 5 and 7 ) and you have a winner 8)
Gonnagle.
