Melania Trump is lovely, and it's important that a future First Lady be introduced to the country. Much of her personal story was nice to hear. But, just imagine how many American women voters can relate to that tale:
"I traveled the world while working hard in the incredible arena of fashion. After living and working in Milan and Paris, I arrived in New York City 20 years ago, where I saw the joys and hardships of daily life."
As tweeter David Marcus said, "Judge her not unless you walk a mile in her Louboutins."
:)
-
As you may be aware, she is in trouble for plagiarising one of Michelle Obama's speeches.
-
Dear Keith,
That's the second OP you have started with a wonderful trace of humour and irony, but then you have just reminded me that with all the nonsense in this world, we might still have to contend with trump being in charge of the button.
I will now apologise to ProfDavey, he is right, we do need Trident :o
Gonnagle.

Yes, I fear Keith - the Teenage Years may have ended, though his bedroom is still untidy.

I wonder what possessed the woman to marry Trump who is insane and so much older than her, MONEY? As for her speech supporting that idiot, it was quoting from a speech made by Michelle Obama eight years previously, how clever was that?
-
Surely the blame lies with the speech writers I'd have thought rather than with the mouthpiece they entrusted to quote their words.
That said, those writers are - presumably - intelligent people, so they must have known that their plagiarism would be discovered and, by association, that the Trump campaign would thereby be discredited.
One could almost be forgiven for suspecting it to be an inside job of sabotage...
Mind you, that said as we seem to live now in a world of post-factual politics presumably no-one in the Trump camp would give a damn in any case at any statement made in their name, however dishonest, plagiarised, racist, whatever. So long as there are enough angry, white and generally poorly educated people to drink the Kool Aid their man will sweep to power in any case
-
A number of people I know have predicted if Trump does become President he wouldn't reign for long, as an 'accident' is likely to befall him, before he could do too much damage. I think they could be right, he is hardly Mr Popularity with the more intelligent members of the Republican Party.

You are suggesting that the more intelligent members of teh Republican party will assassinate their President?

I've heard that said too.
Although not necessarily republicans.

By all accounts, Trump is very good in the bedroom floo. His previous wife (the middle one), said it was the best sex she had ever had, ever, with him. The mind boggles!

YUCK!!!!!

I am presuming that Melania is the feminine of Melanthius? He was the treacherous goatherd who came to a nasty end in The Odyssey

.

Yes she is getting tons of flak for it. But what does the mainstream media have to say about a Democrat who also had to admit to plagiarism. That Democrat is none other than Vice-President Joe Biden. He plagiarized a whole speech while running for Prez in 1988. He quoted five pages without even attributing the quotes. He also took lines from other politicians.
Of course, the media jumped on Melania without doing much research as to who else famous might have plagiarized.
I am not happy with this double standard.
The media jumped on Biden at the time and it scuppered his run for President when it was covered.
-
YUCK!!!!!
Hee hee, I thought you would say something like that ;D. Best not to think about the details, floo.
-
She claims she writes her own speeches. Even if she doesn't she is still responsible.
Having said that, she is not running for president, her husband is. It pains me to say it, but this is not grounds to scupper his bid.
-
I saw Mr Fart's coronation on TV last night, it was like something out of Robocop.
-
I'm sure we're all glad he's over there, HH. (They have Boris over there too, atm,)

The other side of the universe would be too close if Trump becomes President as he has access to the nuclear button!
-
There isn't a nuclear button floo! A decision to send nuclear missiles would not be made by a President without consultation anyway.
I saw Melania making her speech and, honestly, the bit I saw was word for word what Michelle Obama said. You'd have thought she'd have at least changed the words around a bit.

Agree. It's not significant in the grand scheme
-
Well one can only hope the US wises up and elects Clinton, she might not be as good as Obama but compared with Trump she is a million times more able than him.

The one who should be angry is the one who wrote Michelle's speech, s/he should ask Melanoma for some money.

Too right!
Well her husband is getting closer and closer......I still can't believe he will end up being President but stranger things have happened.
Floo, I think you take the SundayTimes: there have been a couple of interesting articles in the Magazine recently, one an interview with Ivanka Trump and another with Susan Sarandon who speaks harshly of Hillary Clinton. They were interesting, at least I thought so; I was more interested in Ivanka than her father, and in Susan Sarandon as a person.

I'm not convinced about theat latter sentiment, Floo. Possibly 3 or 4 times more able than Trump, but neither of them have the clout to do anything to resolve many of the on-going problems in American society - the black on white hatred (and vice versa); the over-reliance on guns and the influence of the the NRA; the imbalance of wealth; Medicare, etc.

We haven't taken a newspaper for many years. I have no interest in those sort of interviews.
-
I understand what you mean about newspapers generally, we stopped having a daily one so long ago I've forgotten but I do quite like the Sunday Times.
Well, Trump is certainly riding high atm!
-
Dear Brownie,
Well, Trump is certainly riding high atm!
Aye when he becomes el presidento he is going to move all U.S military back to America, well that's one way ridding Europe of Nuclear bombs, just as well we are keeping ours >:(
Wait!! no wait! He owns a large chunk of land here in Scotland, he could move all his nuclear arsenal from Italy and Germany and park it on his golf course, a new golfing hazard, instead of sand bunkers, silo bunkers, wonder what witty comment Peter Aliss would make of that. :o
Gonnagle.
-
Is he Christopher Robin's friend, Gonnagle?
He'll probably advise Trump: "Women who want to play at Muirfield should marry a member".

Suddenly Ivanka Trump seems to have a huge fan following. Even Trump's son seems to have impressed. There is now talk of a Trump dynasty rule!!!

My...My!! Maybe Trump will beat Hillary after all!

Be VERY AFRAID if that frightening scenario becomes a reality!
-
Quite Floo as the estimable Stephen King recently tweeted:
"Say here's an idea! Let's turn America's nukes over to a bad-tempered asshole with no knowledge of foreign policy. What could go wrong?"
-
As wrong as it is to normally wish anyone a swift demise, in Trump's case I am afraid that is what I would wish for if he became President!
