Title: Helpful health hints
Post by: SusanDoris on September 27, 2016, 04:55:01 PM
Dear Leonard is ten years older than I am, and jjohnjill is not far behind me, but I thought I'd just mention a few helpful health hints to help avoid unnecessary medical interventions. Prevention being better than cure of course

Avoid having a hip operation if you possibly can.
With a physio, establish and conscientiously maintain a routine of the right exercises which will strengthen muscles (in my case severely weakened following the accident*). I can assure you that you can then avoid the necessity of a hip op.
*Prior to the accident, although I had a hip with a 'severe degenerative condition', I had no trouble because I was so fit.

Take advantage of excellent modern hearing aids.
So many people 'don't like to wear them', or do not take the trouble to use them correctly. You miss so much if you don't persevere with them!
Keep the circulation working well. If you have the slightest trouble with coldish feet, buy a foot warmer!  At about £33 I find the one I have very useful.

Optional: Learn to tap dance!!
