Dear Sane,
Yes the BBC have reported on this,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37483088
But on the back of your Cognitive bias thread I am biting my tongue, but when Boris comes out with statements like,
The U.K. will stand “shoulder-to-shoulder with Ankara,” Johnson said, which has a vital role to play on the world state.
I become very wary when we say things like "stand shoulder to shoulder" Blair got us in to heap load of shit with talk like this.
Gonnagle.

I'm sorry: is that one of those satire sites like the Daily Mash? I'm finding it so hard to tell the truth from a well crafted joke article these days.

No, it isn't a satire site.
I found something on the BBC which seems to substantiate the Politico article:

Well I never knew Turkey was famous for washing machine manufacture! You live and learn.

Beko is a Turkish brand. I believe that some non-main brand televisions are also made in Turkey.

Turkey will never be allowed to join the EU. A good job too.
