Should be interesting if only to hear him tell Boris Johnson to shut his mouth.

Not Smith!! ;)
Now he was a despicable human being and pervert, whose activities were known about but covered up by the powers that be! >:(

No, Fletcher.

It will also be interesting to see if there are any demonstrations, after all the Pope always gets a few.

I doubt many people in the UK have heard of the guy, I admit I hadn't.
-
I'm glad you said that floo because I thought I might be the only one, on here at least, who hadn't heard of him - and I spend my life not having heard of people who are known to everyone else (I also hadn't noticed the Pope, whichever Pope, caused people to have demo's when he comes here :-[).

Our friend Paul (Ad O) will know of him :)

Yes of course he will. Perhaps he'll tell us a bit.

I'm sure there wil be demonstrations, such is the anti-russian frenzy which has been whipped up by Europe's atlanticist governments. I like him, he's a true conservative.

Do you mean you support Russia's stance on world affairs?
-
The age of miracles is not dead.... 'Cos I agree with Floo! I fail to undersand why this chap is firmly in the Putin camp but espouses Christianity. That's the same Putin who cracked down on denominations other than Russian Orrthodox. So much for Christian toleration, then.
-
It probably sounds weak, Anchorman, but I doubt he had much choice. Either that or be persecuted. Of course many Christians, and others, have been persecuted through the ages but the Orthodox church has managed to survive and, up to a point, thrive. He has to think of his wide congregation rather than be a martyr. If he took a firm stand against Putin etc, the Russians might find they no longer have their church which symbolises stability for them amongst other things.
It's never easy at the top.
Just my thoughts.

The underground Church survived for decades under persecution, Brownie. If this chap chickens out of principle to avoid it, he is no servant of the Gospel.

Compared to the West's? Yes I do. The West led by America has shown itself not to be trusted, fomenting and waging war around the world.

Bah! The question is, should it be tolerant?

Yes.
If it is true to the commands to love and to forgive - as per the Gospel.
-
The guy has been and gone, he didn't exactly hit the news!

I'm not sure it did actually thrive, Anchor; it survived, thank goodness but that isn't the same as thriving. It thrives now! I'm not sticking up for this man, just putting another pov. I've no idea whether or not he is a servant of the gospel, know little about him, but I do know that not everyone's role is to be a martyr.
Yes floo, he didn't cause much of a stir, bin an' gon in the flicker of an eyelid.
