Like these people who go shoplifting for peaches in brandy from Harrods and walk about with them in their hand. He looks like an anthropomorphic guitar case!

...... meanwhile the police are asking for help in locating a guide dog for the blind.

He was followed by shop staff, not law enforcement officers. They probably didn't feel that it was safe to confront him.

He had been to the pub and was blind drunk. His theft was blindingly obvious. When he saw he was being followed he dropped his swag and ran off in a blind panic. Police have several leads but they are mostly blind alleys.
