In amongst all the unpleasant stories that we get in the news, I was impressed by the engineering involved in this one.

In 1999, my family and I did the Annapurna Circuit, shortly before returning to the UK for good.  On our way, we passed the Gangapurna glacier.  The link here is to a series of pictures of the glacier from Manang in about 1850, 1950 and 2005.  Not a great deal of change from the first two, but the third is a huge change.  http://bit.ly/2fmAPJ8
