Sir James Young has passed away and I had not realised he was still with us.
Sad but thankful he has had a good innings may he rest in peace.

Sass's comment is right when she says about us not realising our stars of yesteryear seem to fade into the 'background' & THEN we hear when they pass ?!!?!?

His real name was Sir Leslie Ronald "Jimmy" Young CBE.

His real name was Sir Leslie Ronald "Jimmy" Young CBE.
so his real name included a Sir and a CBE, what odd parents he must have had!

Saw this on the news as I was about to leave the house this morning.  Fond memories of his morning programme, and remember basing a play that I was involved in writing, for a school drama competition, on a combination of his regular cookery slot and the Witches' scene from Macbeth!!

So oft he's jolly well gone. Very good  to know he lived to such a great age and died peacefully, bless him.  He was good company.

Leslie, but known as 'Jimmy' I assumed James was a real name never knew it was just his stage name so to speak.
But a lot of stars changed their names didn't they. :) We would have asked who if they had printed his real name...

Depends on what you mean when you say 'die'.
Something has 'gone' when we 'die' that wasn't there before !!!
