The other morning I was sitting on a park bench next to a homeless man. I started a conversation by asking him how he ended up that way.
He said: ‘Until last week I still had it all. I had plenty to eat, my clothes were washed and pressed, I had a roof over my head, I had TV and internet and I went to the gym, the pool and the library. I was working on my MBA online. I had no bills and no debt. I even had full medical coverage.’
I felt sorry for him, so I asked: ‘What happened? Drugs? Divorce?’
‘Oh no, nothing like that,’ he said. ‘I just got out of prison.’

Maybe prison life should not be so comfortable that convicts regret coming out! Some people might actually commit petty crimes just to get back to prison.

No I wouldn't like it, but I have higher expectations. But obviously for some people it isn't much of a deterrent otherwise they wouldn't keep committing crimes, and get sent back time and time again!

so despite being presented with facts in recidivism rates, you deny these, are you Sassy?

It is true a number of people go back to prison so they can't find it that bad!

But the recidivism rate is much lower in Norway and the Netherlands where they are given much more freedoms. Why is it that you ignore the facts? If you are not Sassy, are you NM?

Of course there are other ways to reduce recidivism

I think you are starting from a false premise there.
It is much more likely that some criminals are a bit stupid and get caught again. And again. It's not some kind of master plan they have to keep going back to prison.
