When you posted the link earlier about the Phaistos Disc, the Voynich Manuscript was the first thing that popped into my head.

Intriguing item. If noone has decrypted it yet maybe a deep learning approach could step up to the mark. We already have neural nets that can be trained to recognise handwritten script without reference to a particular language, although deriving an unknown grammar from an unknown vocabulary from unknown script is going to be a big challenge.
