So the favourites went down to Scotland and the second favourites had a very difficult match against a resurgent France. I think my money is still on Ireland since it will be hard for England to beat them in Dublin, but who do people think re going to win it?

Being the arrogant little Englander that I am, I think England may well win. What concerns me is that under Eddie Jones, whenever there's been a 'big' game in their run they've looked very nervous and have needed someone to come off the bench to shake things up/ steady the ship (etc). It would be good to see some more commanding performances in the bigger games.
Scotland's win was good to watch. I think Ireland suffered (psychologically) from the change in the high tackle rule. I wouldn't rule Ireland out yet, but they've lost (or think they've lost) a part of their game in turning tackles into mauls.

Did anyone see the furore over Italy not engaging at the tackle on Sunday?
Seemed a perfectly legit tactic to me (esp. when Launchbury started rampaging through the gaps in the 2nd half).

I write this with 10 minutes to go and the score at 47-21.
What on Earth has happened to Scotland?

It must be hard for the Scots among us to imagine how the game at Twickenham today could have been any worse.
So here's how.

It's all about carb loading.
I think they eat too much porridge prior to the match.

The post match match analysis showed how Ford and Farrell managed to get the inside defender looking to the inside channel, while JJ and the wings got the outside defender looking at the outside channel. Which meant that despite the physcially small gap between the two defenders JJ was able to take a short pass from Ford/ Farrell at speed and left the defenders unable to react and close the gap.
It was almost Guscott-esque in it's beauty.
