Title: Women's Day
Post by: Sriram on March 08, 2017, 06:51:57 AM
Hi everyone,

Women can do anything they want. That is about capability. Whether they should or not is about responsibility! (Equally valid for men also)

Happy Women's Day to all women on this forum!

Have a great day!

Cheers.

What?!! None of the women here even thanked me!!!?  >:(

Ok...I'll give  some options as to why no one responded. Pl select one or more. Men also may respond.

1. You find my post patronizing.

2. You don't like my comment about responsibility.

3. You find the whole concept of Women's Day patronizing.

4. What Women's Day? Its the same as any other day.

5. It has made no difference to women at all over all these years.

6. Women's Day is not for us comfortable and well to do women. It is for the really exploited and abused women in the world.

7. Any other you may want to add........

Cheers.  :)

You have obviously missed the point of the whole thing.

- or have deliberately chosen a denigrating tone.

Nothing denigrating at all in my OP. I was just being honest and putting things in perspective.  What's wrong with that?!

November 19th

I shall look forward to being pampered in 8 months time then, though I couldn't help but notice that Finland wasn't on the list of countries that recognise it.

I like the idea of Steak and Blowjob Day better. I don't know why it has to be during Lent though. I will do my best to promote Men's Day from here on. Equality and all that but knowing me I'll probably forget.

This was the focus of International Men's Day last year.

Aren't you being a tad optimistic?

That's what I thought Rhiannon.  Ad-Orientum - in yer dreams!
No need for a men's day.
Thanks Siriam!

I think there's every need for an International Mens' Day.

I like the idea that the last one wasn't just about preventing male suicide but about encouraging men to talk. My son is only 11 but already I can see he's being encouraged to be 'a man' (which seems to mean 'be tough and look after everyone else') especially as he's the only bloke in my household, not including the dog. It makes him hugely vulnerable to the 'man up' culture when he needs to share his shit as much as his sisters do.

Hadn't thought of it like that, was thinking more in terms of equal rights, pay, glass ceiling etc., but you are right.

Funnily enough...just after Woman's Day,  the scandal broke out about US marines posting nude photos of their female colleagues and  'sisters-in-arms', on pornographic sites.

'The more things change the more they remain the same' .....someone has said!

It's the way of the world. Women take photos of men and publish them! Even schoolkids do it.
It is beyond me how anyone would want pictures of their private parts circulating like that but it's very common and both sexes appear to be guilty.
