Dear Sane,

Thanks ;) ;) Thomas Tallis, Sir Terry's favourite composer, strange to think that the cheerful atheists favourite music is highly religious.

Dear Sir Terry,

Just like Steam old son, not your time yet but one day you will sit with the greats.

Gonzo,

Have a listen to the Crucifixus by Lotti that I put on the music thread the other day, absolutely beautiful

Dear Sane,

Wow!! What I call the low timbre ( don't know the technical name ) in that piece was astounding ;)

Low timbre - is that when you chop down a small tree?

Sorry.

Seriously Tallis's music and that of his contemporaries does not get enough attention. It is sublime music. Many years ago I did study madrigals as part of my A-level course. Although most of any knowledge I accumulated has long gone - I still love the music.

Indeed, Trent, it is sublime. Well, what I know of it, anyway.

Like most people, I suppose, my first contact was with the Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis of Vaughan Williams. This is also sublime and if it encourages people to listen to the Elizabethan music, then good.
