Title: The origin of the Spiders from The Spiders From Mars

For odd reasons, the subject of Queen's Park, the Glasgow football team arose elsewhere in my timeline, which lead me to recount my only little known fact that I feel sort of proud of knowing - that is The Spiders from Mars are in part named for the nickname of Queen's Park - link below.

I had the privilege of spending a long evening's journey into morning with Tony Visconti, and he told me that Bowie had been intrigued by the idea of a football team that never became professional but had the motto Ludere Causa Ludendi - To play for playing's sake. And so he named The Spiders after Queen's Park nickname. I admit to having indulged somewhat that time, and I haven't been able to confirm it but Tony was mighty convincing and I doubt where he might have got the motto if it wasn't true. Anyway time for The Spiders from Mars
