One of the greatest actors these isles have produced. At a great age to boot, I admit. But even so ... shit  >:(

Another institution goes - he was on interviewed on TV briefly a few months ago and was obviously very ill.

Agreed, my first memory of him was as Dudley in Elizabeth R where he was magnetic, as in so much. A rare ability to play bumptious and humane, which obviously suited Siegfried Farnon as a role, and of course, his many Churchills.

I remember Robert Hardy best in 'All Creatures Great and Small'. I was surprised he was only 91.
