With the latest endorsement of the US President from the former KKK leader, I've been musing over protest songs. This one - the superb 'strange fruit' by Billie Holliday, never fails to send a shiver up my spine, or make me angry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4ZyuULy9zs

I agree A - a great song. Years ago I had a vinyl LP (now lost) of two (US) female singers which I have been looking for on the net but have been unable to find - I can't remember their names unfortunately - but they did mainly protest songs one of them was called 'The New Underground Railroad'. I recall being very impressed by it (not impressed enough to remember their names tho!)
Another one that springs to mind is 'The Grave' originally by Don McLean but covered later by George Michael.

EDIT: The duo mentioned above has come back to me (with the help of goggles) - Holly Near & Ronnie Gilbert - the album I had was called 'Lifeline' full of protest and quite a bit of fun too.
