I'm a die hard fan!
Missed the launch show last night as I was out but am now catching up with it on iplayer.
From what I've seen so far, I like the new head judge, Shirley Ballas.
Up to now, I guessed who would be paired with whom! Some more to go (& I don't know all the celebs), & there are new profs.
Just watched Ore and Joanne repeat their winning jive from last year. Grrrreat stuff1
I like Shania Twain but found her song boring and didn't like her outfit which looked cheap and uncomfortable/'itchy' to me -might just be me. A small detail in an otherwise good show - to which I will now return.
Hope other Strictly fans will comment on this thread (I can't be the only addict).

I will comment more when the series starts proper.
In the meantime if I were a betting man (which I'm not) Debbie Mcgee moved rather well although with Davood Ghadami taking part I was having a little trouble concentrating ;) so I may be completely wrong about the lovely Debbie.

Still haven't watched the second half, 'Victoria' is on atm and after that is finished I'll probably take the laptop up to bed and see the rest.
Still I prefer the show when it gets going, something to look forward to every Saturday night.

Having medals for dancing and Highly commended in my tests I find it something I prefer doing than watching.
Three nights a week after work I went home for a quick shower and three bus Journeys there and back arriving home on the last bus are really good memories of hours well spent with people who became friends and dance partners.
I think that dancing should be in the school curriculum, I believe it would help children develop socially and feel less awkward in society.
I am going to miss poor Brucie. Love dancing and the shows have been good in the past. But have to admit it depends a lot on who is dancing these days when it comes to watching. Still catching up on last nights.

Wow, you know your stuff unlike most of us who only know a bit (& some of that from Strictly).
Agree with you that all kids learn to dance at school. Very good idea. I remember we did country dancing type stuff when I was small & when I was big we did disco but not proper lessons.
Glad you are enjoying the show & nice the way they spoke of and did tribute to Bruce.

Strictly is the only thing I turn the TV on for! I thought Saturday's show was better paced than in previous years.

Yes it was a good show. Would you believe I found myself crying when Ore and Joanne were on, also with Brucie's tribute.

Some controversy over having Same sex dancing on strictly?
Never see this difficulty over mixed Doubles at Wimbers.
One argument is that the BBC is a public service broadcaster but surely they should think of people who would want Dance professionals partnered with Chimps who I'll wager are greater in number than people who want to see two hairy arsed blokes argue about who is going to lead.
I hope also that this isn't being gussied up by people who want to make this just a gay rights issue since I would like to see Richard Dawkins and Jacob Rees Mogg paso Doble.
Why go to same sex dancing before say ''Dancing with people not on big fat BBC pay''?

Watched the opening show. Just a few comments.
I did find the choice of celebrities a bit too predictable in some cases. Incidentally, the idea of two ladies dancing together is completely accepted in the dancing fraternity. Indeed my wife regularly dances the man's part with other ladies in the dances which we run. Personally I think we have some way to go before the idea of two men dancing together is generally accepted(which I would welcome, by the way). On occasions I have actually danced with another bloke, but it tends to be a jokey thing. The new chief judge looks promising, and, hopefully, she will concentrate on dancing technique rather than showmanship, which seems increasingly to have become the order of the day in order to impress people. That's only a personal opinion, of course.
We'll see how it goes..
