isle with her on our wedding day. I'm talking about a tiny lucky teddy she hid under her dress . Did you or your partner have any lucky charms hidden about their person on your 'special day'?

"isle"? Of Skye? Of Wight?
Oh, and isn't a "teddy" an item of ladies' underwear by the way? Good to know it was both tiny and lucky though - lucky for you presumably 8)
-
A teddy can look very pretty and maybe give a smooth, streamlined effect but always strikes me as a bit unhygienic for long term use. No I wore a bra and pants under my wedding dress, a smooth bra and no VPL pants which were quite attractive and sufficient.
-
I have never heard the word 'teddy' used in connection with an article of clothing, what is it?

I didn't know those ghastly looking things were called a 'teddy', I would never in a million years have worn anything like that!

When I bought my wedding lingerie I purchased a long 1930's style chiffon nightdress, among other things <ahem>.
The assistant in the shop said, 'oh that is lovely, and you know that you will never bump into anyone else wearing the same one.'
She was right, too.
-
My mother was in charge of my wedding dress as I have never been interested in dressing up. It was elegant without being fussy, which I would have hated. If it had been left to me I would have walked down the aisle in jeans and T shirt. ;D When my daughters married they dragged me off to buy clothes for their weddings as they didn't trust me not to turn up in said jeans and T shirt. ;D

No I shy away from publiicity.

No thanks, have respect for my age please (and my sister was & is equally attractive)!
Rhiannon's wedding outfit sounds cool. Bet she didn't wear a teddy though!)

I didn't get married in my nightie.

You are not alone, Floo. I too had never heard the word used in the context referred to here. I did not bother to click on the link!!!
-
Remember Patsy falling out of a cab in Ab Fab? There's why teddies are a ridiculous idea right there. A few glasses of something and they are impossible to do up again.
-
Yes! Fiddly things no doubt, I've never fancied wearing one.
(I get you didn't marry in your nightie but when you spoke of it I had an image of a beautiful flowing silken creation that was adapted into an original wedding gown for you - & I wuz wrong!)
-
I had a couple when they first came out. Stupid idea. If you need something smooth then a classic chemise is the thing.
My wedding frock was off the peg, ivory silk, a bit medieval in vibe , very fitted with long pointy sleeves and a fishtail skirt. It was off the shoulder and had small silk roses around the neckline. Three years ago I gave it to a local charity shop that has a bridal department. I wonder if someone bought it and she looked amazing on her big day, or if it got binned, there not being much call for 90's dresses.

I always thought that this garment was known as camiknickers.

I have never heard of them either.

Camiknickers are a kind of camisole and French knickers combo. Teddies aren't as full and frilly and are less bulky under clothing.

Thank you for the clarification :-)

It's all gone a bit Christmassy Ted

When all else fails ... I go to Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_(garment)
This says that teddy and camiknickers are the same thing. Interesting that "teddy" is singular and "camiknickers" appears to be plural ....

I wouldn't rely on Wiki. As a user at one time or another of both products they are very different.
Otherwise when teddies came on the scene they'd have been called camiknickers because they already existed. Teddies were invented to give a smooth line under clothing, closely related to that other nonsensical garment, the body.

I hope it wasn't binned, it sounds divine!

They don't all look like exactly that. The teddy is the "onesie" of female underwear. just imagine a vest and pants joined at the waist and with some fasteners "down below" to facilitate "natural functions".

She said the same thing to me but she was wrong. Never use a lingerie shop that your fiancée goes to.

LMFAO :) :) :)

Not that I'm aware of. She even left her white cane behind - she lost her sight when she was 18. We've been divorced for 27 years, but are still good chums, and see each other a few times a year. I still love her more than I can say.
-
Peasemold you have me in tears, true I'm in a teary mood, but what you just said really touched me.
Makes me feel that people often don't recognise love even when it hits them in the face. You do appreciate the meaning of the word.
-
Thanks for the kind words.

Does Vlad have competition?

You try doing yourself upn again after 'natural functions'. Though I never had a Teddy, I did have a 'top' that fastened in the same way. There were enough difficulties working out where to put my bust, never mind the nether regions. I remember I wore it to a friend's party. Never again!
