I heard an interview (on Fivee Live I think) with an expert who says it is not an original Leonardo.

Yes, several "experts" have expressed doubt as to the attribition, some seem to think it was done by a stuident of Leonardo, not Leonardo himself.

Not entirely sure that there was a golden age just about taste at the high end of the art market but I think there are several valid criticisms of the current treatement of art.
