I can remember reading a Sunday Magazine article about "Johnny Halliday-the pop singer who stayed at home" in 1976! He was already a veteran then, I suppose rather than call him the "French Elvis" a better description would be "the French Cliff Richard".

In which case I'm glad I knew nothing of him.
