What? The advert or pulling out of the concert?

I don't think it is. There's two sides to the Israel/Palestinian conflict and, if I was Israeli or Jewish, I would probably be frustrated that everybody seems to be taking the Palestinian side the whole time. It's not as if the Palestinians are saints.

Personally, if I were in high demand for my singing, I would keep clear of the whole area until they'd sorted it out, which probably means for ever.

. That the pulling of the concert is an example of 'Jew hatred'

Yes, that is over the top. It's also almost certainly wrong.

Tbh my bigger concern about this ‘advert’ is the attack on New Zealand’s voting position at the UN. It’s effectively saying that all countries that voted against the US’ change in position are ‘anti Jew’.

Quite agree, Rhiannon.
Jews themselves can't agree on Israel's position anyway, many are anti-Zionist - Satmar for example, plus others.
What does any of that have to do with pop singers unless they are deliberately taking a political stance, which some do?

isn't the decision not to play a political stance?

You'll have to ask the artist.  Possibly.

Given that it was chosen after a political challenge?

Could still be made so as not to offend her fan base. Boycotting anyone with a connection to Israel is likely to become increasingly a thing thanks to Trump.

That said, I don’t think her motivation really matters. The bigger concern for me is the inflammatory suggestion that any nation who isn’t supporting Trump is ‘anti Jew’ and anti Israel and I think this is probably the deeper message behind the advert.

Perfectly possible but that's political too. If the motivation doesn't matter, the action is meaningless. So if her motivation is unimportant then the rabid rabbi isn't political either.

Lorde (of whom I had never before even heard), is only 21, who knows what goes on inside her head.
The Rabbi mentioned in OP seems a bit harsh to me.  I don't pretend to be an expert on these things but tend towards Rhiannon's thinking on this issue.

So people under 21 don't make political choices?

I didn't say that - am trying to avoid asking you questions such as, "Did I say that?", because then we become bogged down in non-discussion.

I don't know the girl, perhaps her management team are pulling her strings.  Perhaps you know better than I.

And in the meantime while we discuss who did what for why the US are ‘taking names’ at the UN for their Big List of Enemies. New Zealand’s on it.
