Saw her live at the Hull City Hall back in 1964. Electrifying experience. One of my first experiences of gospel music. Later on, I think that same year, saw Muddy Waters live at Hull University. One of my first experiences of blues Music.

I thought it was you, enki, that had seen her in the early 60s. The article popped up on my timeline due to the date so thought it worth sharing.

Glad you did, Nearly. It brought her concert, and the effect it had on me at the time, back into my mind. Thanks. :)

A few years back i saw a programme about Sister Rosetta Tharpe & have never forgotten it. It started with a lot of young people walking to a railway station, and she performed on the station platform. It was marvellous. What a striking woman she was too.
