tried to allow for all ages..lol
Mine was Heart of Glass by Blondie... nearly played this record to death... :)

I think the first single I bought was "Killing Me softly" by Roberta Flack - although I had quite a few albums before that, I used to like a single and buy the album it was on. Not the best policy in some cases as I eventually realized.

An awesome timeless song... love it...
It was a time when they had to have a few hits before making an album, now the album is out before anything else...

Now, look, guys.....you're gonna cast this up to me, but I may as well 'fess up. Before I do so, let me please point out that A) I'd got this brand new thingy called a 'cassette recorder" - with no casssettes. And: B) I had not yet acheived the lofty hieghts of my ninth birthday. OK? Good..... OK, then; It was March 1968..... The first album I bought was.... ....Rolf Harris' greatist hits..... I tried it a few years back.....the ***** thing still plays.

It was in 1963, and it was The Beatles 'Twist and Shout' EP (same size as a single but containing 4 tracks.)

Afraid the first single was Monster Mask, and the first LP was a K-Tel compilation, and the only thing I can definitely remember being on the compilation was Radar Love

To sort of redeem myself in your eyes, the first two Christian albums I bought were a rock-choir type outfit called New Horizon singing Chuck Girard material, and Shiela Walsh's first album, "Future Eyes".

Adam and the Ants - Ant Music
First album - can’t be sure, could have been Penthouse and Pavement by H17.

First LP I bought (I think) was a Decca Ace of Clubs reissue of Holst's The Planets with Malcolm Sargent and the LSO. First single (again, I think) was Buddy Holly It Doesn't Matter Any More. Or it might have been The Ying Tong Song by the Goons.

Single - 'Love is Like a Violin' by Ken Dodd, to my undying shame. I loved Doddy as a comedian, but his schmalzy singing was not to my taste - at least, not later. At the time, I was in my early teens.
Can't remember what my first LP or CD was, but I'm sure it wasn't as embarrassing as that.

Get it On - T Rex
Brown Sugar - Stones
When I was about ten, circa 71.
My parents had loads of earlier stuff which I loved.
