My drama teacher (in 1976, hooray) was a pupil at Lindsays dance school, she told us that Lindsay wore a leotard for the same. Compared to his street gear of bald head, white face, gypsy shirt, with jammy lipstick and huge earrings, a leotard was quite conventional.
