Title: Old Radio Times issues on-line

Came across this on the BBC: their Genome project that includes the covers and contents of all the Radio Times back-issues, allowing you to drill down to what was on by date.

For example, on my 16th birthday I can see what delights there were on BBC 1 that might have being more tempting than homework (or not). For me that would be Noggin and the Flying Machine, at 4.40pm, followed later by Top of the Pops.

The day I was born. (https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/schedules/bbctv/1951-06-19) A tip for anyone else as ancient as me who wants to see what was on telly on the day they were born: click on the second clickable title at the top and choose "BBC Television". It's already on it on my link.

I remember 'Daktari' - right load of old codswallop. I loved 'Bewitched', and remember 'The Newcomers', an early BBC soap.

I have also looked at this. It is noticeable how refined BBC2 was compared to today. Different times. Sigh.

On one of the dates in 1974 I came across "Ooh La La" which I have a vague memory of - it was a collection of farces, some Feydeau, headed up by Patrick Cargill and Amanda Barrie, and the cast list is a veritable who's who of British character acting.

I looked it up on on IMDB and if you scroll to the bottom of the cast list there is one Leonard Woodrow. Bittersweet indeed.

PS Totally off topic but I was once chatted up by Patrick Cargill in the bar of the Theatre Royal Nottingham.

I don't remember 'The Newcomers' at all but I do remember 'Bewitched' - must see if there are episodes on Youtube: I wonder how well it has worn.

Bewitched has worn very well imho - it still manages to make me laugh easily and I feel the better for watching it. The Lucy Show on the other hand.....

Yes I remember there was a character called Lance who I think caught tetanus. They used to get down the pub where there would be Henry Burroughs and Arnold Tripp having a G and T.

The TV programmes on the day I was born look pretty boring.
