Can't see the LDs losing Shetland, if it was Orkney maybe. That said if the SNP were to take it, it would be a big coup. they have put a lot into it as the article makes clear.

To be fair, Tavish Scott will be a hard act to follow. He was dedicated to his electorate. I wish him well in his work for the SRU. I agree, the Lib Dems will take the seat...the Northern Isles, for the uninitiated, have been a bastion of Liberalism for decades. It migh be quite a close run thing, though.

Yes, I think Tavish Scott has been a strong MSP even getting the Northern Islands out of their box.

One of those by elections where everybody loses a bit. The LDs will be happy to have kept a reasonable majority, and the SNP to have had a 14% swing, the Tories almost static vote may well be the achievement of the day. SLab though ended up 6th - that's very very bad.

It was a reasonable effort both by the Lib Dems (who had a hard act to follow) and SNP.
I'm not entirely surprised that the Tory and dismal SLAB showing was virtually ignored by the mainstream media.

Just googled. Damn - the Fib Dems won.

Better them than the liar of 10 Downing Street or the wet blanket Brexiteer in the closet of wherever it is Jeremy Corbyn lives.
