Lovely, I like that too (as long as I'm armed with insect repellant).

The other thing I like is looking up at clouds in the sky, watching them slowly move around - that's very relaxing and makes me sleepy.

I used to like water, until we lived literally yards from small river for 15 years, that put me off for life.

I think it would be easier if you gave us a short list of things you DO like/agree with. It would save a lot of time !

as someone who spent about two years travelling around the coast of Britain in a clockwork direction , I can say I totally agree with the link you provided 👍

Walter, you are a person who gets their pleasure trying to wind other posters up instead of making any reasonable contribution to this forum.

I suspect there are a lot of poor people affected by the terrible floods in Yorkshire and Derbyshire who aren't too keen on water at present. :o

Helping other people out if I can
Reading

If I was being pedantic, which I believe I am about to be, I would say that is only 3 as reading is a hobby. You could, of course, split your hobbies into their individual components and then you would have more than 4!  :P

I'm not sure that reading counts as a hobby.

Anyway back on topic, we moved earlier this year, partly to be by the sea. I definitely think it has made a positive difference to me. I get out and walk a lot more for starters.

I'm not sure that reading counts as a hobby.

Why aren't you sure?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hobbies

I know it's only wiki, but reading is listed as a hobby in loads of different places.

I have never considered reading a hobby. I have always enjoyed reading, it has always been my favourite activity since I was a child. My mother would frequently chase me outside to play on a fine summer's if she discovered me with my nose in a book. My kindle is very precious to me.

On the subject of water I'd add that I've always loved swimming in the sea, and still do whenever the opportunity arises.

I used to love swimming in the sea in my home island. Sadly I haven't been swimming for years, I seem to be allergic to the chlorine in swimming pools nowadays, which is a nuisance. :o

LR do you live anywhere near the coast? If so you could have the occasional day out by the sea. A relaxing thought - but not if you have to drive for hours which is why I asked if you weren't far from the seaside.

Sorry to have continued the diversion.  Back to water.

Monet's Lily Pond was considered tranquil until it became over popular, I've even had carrier bags with the picture on. It is nice though but there is such a thing as overkill.

I really like this, my cousin has a good print on sitting room wall and whenever I visit I gaze at it for ages.

This place is absolutely magical, I've been twice and will go again, taking my Yorkshire relatives when they come to stay, they'll love it.

We are not far from the coast, but we never visit it, somehow compared to the coastline in Guernsey the ones in the UK don't  do it for me.

I don't know, there are nice places. It doesn't do to make comparisons and if the sea is calm, the beach comfortable and it's a nice day, you might enjoy it. I usually have and have been to beaches here and abroad, some marvellous, some not so but if the weather is fine it's ok, the sea is the same wherever you are. I didn't go abroad this year, just up to Yorkshire and some of the beaches there are lovely. Bit far for a a day though! Maybe you could have seaside day and picnic with one of your daughters and their children. These are just thoughts, up to you what you do.

It's only when I'm on holiday that I swim now but next weekend will be down at my sis in law's, taking my in laws, her parents, where there is an indoor pool. I'm quite looking forward, always relax down there (W Sussex).

I try to keep out of the sun as much as possible these days, I spent far too much time in it as a kid.

Untrue, it was me doing my laundry which did it, I can almost guarantee that if I put it outside even if the sky is blue it will rain. If I was employed to do it in a drought stricken area it would never stop raining  ;D

Getting back to the subject of water, there are still severe flood warnings in those areas of Yorkshire and Derbyshire so badly affected in the last 24 hrs. I reckon flood insurance cover will go up sky high in price, and it would be well nigh impossible to sell one of those properties. :o

my sister lives in an area the river Don runs through , she's just sent me videos and pics of the lanes/roads near her house completely awash , fortunately her little village is safe for now but is unable to get out . High tide on the Don is about 17:30 hours  near her place so they're a bit nervouse !

At times like this, I'm glad I live at the top of as hill. I've seen minor flooding in Hemel Town centre sand Boxmoor, but I don't think people's houses are ever affected - it's usually fields and the common.

ive told her to forget the house and just get out of there if there is any risk at all
Apparently a barn burnt down yesterday in their suburb so I'm guessing danger could be close

She said temperatures are high and the ground is tinder dry with strong winds and you can taste the smoke in the air
