I came across this website yesterday, which is an A-Z of nursery rhymes, many of which I learned from birth. My mother thought they were a good way of encouraging me to speak. I started talking at 5 months old and in proper sentences by the time I was a year old. I taught our children nursery rhymes too, and they all spoke earlier than most children.
I don't think kids learn nursery rhymes these day, possibly because many are very non PC to say the least.
One of my favourites was, 'Mary, Mary Quite Contrary', I wonder why? ;D
