Reading the report of the vile crimes of Joseph McCann but then brought up short by this
"In a victim impact statement, the 25-year-old woman who was subjected to a 14-hour ordeal spoke about how she deeply traumatised she is.
She said she was paying for her own therapy because there was an eight-month to one-year wait for NHS treatment and criticised the "under-resourcing" of services for survivors."

Poor woman. :o I hope that vile sewer rat never sees the light of day again. I am against executing prisoners, but in his case I would make an exception. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

The issue though is her words are not about him but the society we participate in. He is not in the dock by her words. We are. The system is. The govt is.

This is horrific . This woman should be helped NOW !
But we can't force people to become therapists even though we need them

But if you are in charge of the NHS you could have planned to meet demand and not try and ignore your responsibility.

you could be right but I don't know if that's true or not .

Then you think all plans on the NHS are worthless

what?
Where did that come from ?
Does your carer know you're on here again ?

If you can't plan to deal with changes, plans are worthless. You appear confused by the logic of your own position.

Given the number of university degrees being churned out every year, do you think that there's not a sufficiently large pool of qualified people if there was the funding to employ them?
O.

I think the point of prisons/punishment is to rehabilitate and turn 'malfunctioning' (for want of a better word) people into valuable members of society - for those that are fundamentally defective, and I strongly suspect this individual is such, there's no benefit to anyone to wasting resources keeping him alive.

"I have no words" is a fashionable, lazy cliche. I wish people would stop using it.
-
Alright. Can't find the right words then.
It's a question of priority, there's a 6-8 month waiting list for that type of therapy on NHS. Naturally we want to prioritise people who have been so severely traumatised such as by this monster but there are other people waiting who are suffering, some can't go out, work, eat, are suididal - have many problems.
I'm gald the woman in the link is having private therapy. She shouldn't have to but it's good she is.
There are charities that organise free and/or cheap psychotherapy & therapists who give reduced rates, subsidised by better off clients who can afford full whack.
I'm tired now and can't type. See y'all termorrer.

Therapy is expensive, and on NHS you don't get much. Remember this is a Tory govt.

Have a look at your priorities.

Could just have a good walk as Hunt said when he was Health Secretary and being the shallow prick that he was.

Can't imagine how hard it must be to get past this, even with therapy. But yes, as a victim of McCann, the bonkers criminal justice system and the funding cuts brought in by the government she must feel really abandoned by the authorities who are supposed to care.

It's stuff like this that makes me despair of voting, this should be the easy stuff - providing services for people as individuals.

Other than being a good society

i don't know the answer to that . That's why I said what I said .
Do you know ? Or are you assuming ?
In not looking for an argument , just asking the question .
