I haven't watched that, but I remember reading that he acted as a gun-runner on behalf of the American rebels during the war of independence.

I think that is likely fictional. The programme is good though.

Yep Good programme.

Since he was only born in 1759, I think it highly unlikly he'd be old enough to be involved in gun running.
Besides, he was rather busy in other pursuits....and catching most of 'em....

On the back of it, I 've bought a biography of Frederick Douglass - been meaning to for a while
