Good old Adge - daft sod killed himself by falling asleep at the wheel, just as the Wurzels were on the brink of national fame. "Adge" was his nickname at school, from his intials, AJ. A Bristol paper ought to know that 'Combine Harvester' and 'I am a Cider Drinker' were both released after his death. He was the group's songwriter, so after his death, none of the others being much good at composing music, they did parodies of existing songs. Both those songs are now much better known than the songs they parody, 'Una Paloma Blanca' and 'Brand New Roller Skates'. Their biggest hit under Adge was 'Drink Up Thy Zider'. They call their musical style "Scrumpy and Western".
