Title: Facebook Europe and UK to be shut down?
Post by: Owlswing on September 30, 2020, 02:44:56 PM

And what will the repercussions be of this - if it actually happens?

I think that 'if' is doing a lot of work. Likely that some compromise will happen - this is a bit of dancing at the moment

If I am completely honest, all in all, I really don't think that I would miss it that much.

I would because it has been enormously useful organising stuff with a variety of friends, and I find it very useful as a vade mecum of recording stuff

This is the organisation for which Nick Clegg is Vice-President for Global Affairs and Communications.

I would, it's my primary means of keeping contact with a lot of people. However, I tend to agree with NS: it won't happen because there's far too much money involved.

Bluff and brinkmanship. It won't happen.

Why do you find it hard to believe that a lot of people find Facebook very useful?

I don't, but I don't! I have got fed up with bucket after bucket after bucket of shite, pictures of people who I do not know, friend requests from people who are friends of friends of friends of people who I know from my school days!

Post after post of bollocks and bull shit - and if I don't look at Facebook for more than 24 hours I am deluged with reminders from Facebook about just what I am missing!

As far as I am concerned everybody else in the world can have Facebook, just don't keep nagging me about what THEY think I am missing that I think that I am not!

I have my own version of Facebook with which I am, to a far greater extent than with Facebook, happy; it is titled Religion and Ethics Forum! I may not agree with everyone thereon but they do not force it down my throat, I may not understand some of it, but there is usually someone who can explain it to this fucking moron in words of one syllable!

Thank you, NS, Gordon, JeremyP and all the others who have helped me over the years!

Ahhh. That's made me go all sentimental.

Then again 5 cans of Stella have been consumed this evening.

Two large glasses of Lindisfarne and a rather splendid gammon steak and chips!

Lindisfarne - a light coloured Mead made on the Holy Island!

A tragedy like that would bring tears to anybody's eyes. I hope you rushed the victim straight to hospital.

Twas all we had in the house, a gift from when we moved here, and it was going out of date. Had to be drunk. I'm still here, no need for hospitalisation.
