Odd ranking in some cases.

Why is "minger" mild, but "minge" strong?

And I wouldn't myself classify "dick" as strong. This may be down to regional variations of course.

Despite the spelling - and, perhaps, despite their origins which I'm not aware of - the usage is very, very different.

Is it only apocryphal that the BBC forbad Kenny Everett to name a character Mary Hinge but were fine with Cupid Stunt....?
