Well that's obviously the theory. I am somewhat cynical of the idea as if it applies, it applied to a very very small section of society. Given changes in the makeup of society, it might apply to a wider group in people but for the vast majority it will pass them by

This is true. The 1920s only roared for the rich and comfortably off.
