I don't know that I'm intrinsically opposed to privatisation, but the particular format of this privatisation was always going to be problematic - giving a company a long-term exclusive monopoly over a region doesn't conform to any rational understanding of 'competition' that I've ever come across.

Extremely difficult to get that particular genie back in the bottle. Realistically, it's not going to happen any time soon. By which I mean I'll be long gone by that time.
