Set up 21st June 2011. My thanks to Jakswan for setting it up, to Gordon for picking up the tab for the last few years, all of those who have modded, and done technical support, and to all you lovely posters.

Indeed - I said that on the thread, over a year ago. I never visit that section of the forum nowadays.

Hard to believe it has been 10 years - it might be quieter these days, but still we stumble on.
Searching for God is, of course, of huge cultural significance and we are merely its custodians. Centuries hence, when historians look back at the phenomena of Internet Forums in the early 21st century, they will read SfG and no doubt they will wonder why those of us who contributed could even be bothered, given the pointlessness of it all: but our names, or aliases, will live on!

Did you know that on the 21st June 1893 the first Ferris wheel in the world opened in Chicago.
I sometimes have vague flights of fantasy over this board being like a ferris wheel that never stops it just goes round and round. In some ways not unlike the Hotel California:

As I know for a fact, it is unlike any other forum on which I have ever posted in that respect. ;D

It has been such a pleasant ten years, after the previous , for me, about five years on the BBC message boards. It feels more personal than other forums and we're a group of friends who enjoy each other's company. Yes, the SFG should continue!! But please, when it ends, do not let that last post be one of AB's!!:D
It is this forum too that has enabled me to enjoy a hobby where I can now usually succeed without much aid, but that is only because the help and encouragement has been here.

Trentvoyager's Eagles comment prompts me to note that we have had a few check out in the most final of ways. Elevenses, Leonard and wigginhall. I suspect that there are more amongst those who once posted but those are 3 that we are pretty certain of, and completely certain of in Elevenses case.
I know it's a bit of a downer but still I raise a little toast to absent friends.
