Most of which I haven't watched or even heard of. First one on the list, starting from 1, that I have watched is Deadwood at 18.

Much though I enjoyed Fleabag I do have to question its high placing. Certainly Happy Valley should place above it in any sensible rankings. That is my opinion. Others will no doubt be available.

I've watched three of those, to any great extent (Dexter, House and Big Bang Theory), with a few more on my potential watchlist (Battlestar Galactica and Watchmen stand out).

The rest I've either never heard of (in which case I have to wonder if they're my thing) or I have heard of and I'm pretty sure they're not my thing.

Still, 'best' artistic determinations I feel often go for pretentiousness over enjoyability, anyway, as any look at Oscars, Booker Prizes, Turner Prizes or the like will attest to.

The problems with comparing streaming services and broadcast TV notwithstanding, surely the 'best' shows are the ones with the largest audience?

O.

My stand out 2000s programme is Inside No 9 which appears on the list but way to low.

I'd agree. Fargo is another that is too far down the list, especially the first series with Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton (who was just wonderful as the crazed killer).

Surprised that Grimm didn't feature: it was utterly silly but hugely enjoyable nonetheless.

The Leftovers was quite high up. Enjoyed that very much. Lot's of series I've watched odd episodes of but very few I've actually followed. Don't usually have the time or the inclination to do so.

Haven't heard of most of them. 'The Office' was brilliant, except that I never understood why it was done as a spoof fly-on-the-wall documentary series, rather than a straight sitcom.

Six that I watched regularly with The Office being most highly placed.

The Bridge is too far down the list IMO.

I've watched twelve in full.
From those my personal top 3 are
Game of Thrones
Deadwood
Band of Brothers.

Based on previous comments, I'll add a few more to my "toe dipping" list!
