Asked in a later interview on BBC One’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg why he had not endeavoured to find out more before representing the government on a media round, Cleverly Fuckwit said he had been too busy doing his shopping after an overseas trip.

There's  (yet another) Tory scandal going on and I'm  a senior position, what should I do...? I know, I'll go shopping.
.
BTW, being fined at 30% AND announced by HMRC, isn't a one off mistake.
Clusterfuck is nowhere close.

The question that worries me on these latest in the long long long line of Tory money scandals is how much are we getting to know because of internecine struggles in the Tory party?

Friend asked ChatGPT this:

Q.  Create a public relations strategy for a politician who has been caught cheating on his taxes.

A.
Acknowledge the mistake: The first step in a public relations strategy for a politician who has been caught cheating on their taxes would be to acknowledge the mistake and take responsibility for it.

Apologize: A public apology should be issued, expressing remorse for the mistake and any harm that may have been caused.

Provide an explanation: Offer a clear and concise explanation of the circumstances that led to the mistake and any steps that have been taken to address it.

Take action: Take immediate action to correct the mistake, such as paying any outstanding taxes and fines, and implementing measures to ensure that it does not happen again in the future.

Emphasize transparency: Highlight the steps being taken to be transparent and accountable, such as making all relevant information and documents available to the public.

Communicate with the voters: Reach out to the voters to address their concerns, listen to their feedback and assure them that their best interests will always be a priority.

Address the issue head on: Don't avoid the issue, address it head on and provide the voters with a clear understanding of what was done wrong, what steps have been taken to fix the problem and the steps that will be taken to prevent it from happening again.

Emphasize the positive: Highlight the politician's past achievements, contributions, and the positive impact that they have had on the community.

Show commitment to integrity: Show the voters that the politician is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity and that they have learned from their mistakes.

Follow-up: Finally, follow up with the voters to ensure that they are satisfied with the actions that have been taken, and that they have a clear understanding of the steps that will be taken to prevent similar situations from happening in the future.

Not just a Tory issue but the intertwined nature of the political class is problematic when it comes to appearing not to be corrupt.

I was reading about this earlier and my gaydar pinged.

Sure enough, he is gay (my gaydar isn't always that accurate) and married to a man.

But read further and his favourite book is "The Old Testament". He is a Christian.

I'm kind of worried for him. All that cognitive dissonance can't be good for him.

Although when I say worried, not overmuch, he is a Tory.

Tory donor’s firm paid for Sunak’s £16,000 one-way helicopter trip to Leeds
...
Hester, who is sole owner of the company, made a £5m donation to the Conservatives earlier this year
...
Jo Maugham, the director of the Good Law Project, said: “None of us can look into Mr Hester’s mind to see what motivates him to make these generous donations to Mr Sunak and his government of vast sums of money and a helicopter ride. What is beyond doubt is that he has made an enormous fortune from contracts given to him by the government.”
I shall doft my hat to the learn-ed J Maughan. Oh, to be able to look into those minds.
