Had one, back in the 80s. They're still made. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/COSTWAY-Capacity-Portable-Function-Apartment/dp/B0B4FR43HF/ref=asc_df_B0B4FR43HF?tag=bingshoppinga-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80333196245685&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583932718972208&psc=1)

I remember the mangle washer that it replaced.
My mum convinced me that mangling could only be done by 'strong boys' so I was the ideal candidate to do it whilst she encouraged me from behind a cup of tea and a fag!

I remember my grandmother had a mangle - and I remember being terrified of it, and what it might do to fingers.

In addition to the mangle we had a posstick and a tub and a gas boiler all in the outside wash house.
It was hard work for mum, but we only washed on Mondays.
Now it seems to be the norm to wash every day of the week :(

I remember my mother had a twin tub. I especially remember the tongs. Also, I remember being quite angry that they called it a spin dryer when the clothes that came out of it definitely weren't dry and still had to be hung on the line. We got an automatic washing machine when I was about six.

I think Richard Dawkins atheist is an anagram for Kin hard wash tit rices.
