Given Lineker is not directly employed by the BBC any 'speaking to' is going to be a bit pointless unless they were to threaten to pull the contract, and even then presumably it's not the money that would be an issue.

I am treating this furore over someone telling the truth with as much force as I can muster.
That Linekar is criticised for expressing concerns over the direction of this country, whilst GBNews is allowed to peddle lies daily, tells you all you need to know about how the media and government conspire to manipulate us in this country.

And Lineker 'stepping back' from MOTD

I accused the BBC of tory bias on this forum over their cancellation of Jeremy Corbyn years ago. I seem to recall being told I was exaggerating.

Ian Wright and Alan Shearer boycotting MOTD tomorrow. Be presented by Stanley Johnson and Nadine Dorries

I heard it was going to be Sepp Blatter for balance.
The BBC are managing to dig themselves a mighty big hole with this and the Attenborough programme.

BBC to replace MOTD with the live execution of David Attenborough by Stanley Johnson who will be ennobled afterwards.

For the avoidance of doubt this is the BBC taking the side of the government.
In 2017 Lineker stated an opinion about the leader of the opposition and tweeted 'bin Corbyn'. An opinion (which he was entitled to as far as I'm concerned) with significantly more political bias than the one he made the other day. Don't seem to remember any outrage about political impartiality then?
Quelle surprise.

Good on them both.

Wonder if the reverse ferret will make an appearance in due course now that the football personalities are closing ranks and not fronting the programme - wonder if the regular viewers will bodyswerve the programme tomorrow night (assuming it airs). I don't watch it anyway, but I'll certainly put a lot more effort into not watching it tomorrow.
Perhaps the tories will force the BBC into some commentary changes too - 'right wingers' can be referred to as that but those on the other side of the pitch will forthwith become 'sinistral wingers' and, of course, all goalposts will have wheels fitted so that they can be easily moved.

Hello Mick Lynch are you happy with yourself bringing the country and ordinary people down on their knees over Xmas. You don't fool me waiting for the employers to come to table. You love the publicity.Your members would like to earn what you get.Why don't you waive your salary.
Strangely he is still presenting The Apprentice.

Oh ffs! Alastair Campbell being dagenham on Twitter. There is a good argument to be made about keeping the BBC Singers - the govt being like Nazi Germany is not only not the argument but undermines the argument

Well really.
Who needs sports and music on the BBC anyway? The nation is on a war footing and in crisis, with collapsing health and transport systems, people unable to afford housing, food and energy, public services shutting down.
... And all we get are sport, music and drama, game and sewing reality shows etc... No Tory politician ever able to get a spot on air to explain what a great job they doing and why the problems are due to illegal people who belong in France.
And GL ... even with all that money from hours of BBC sport, then undoes vital public messages by broadcasting truths on twitter.
Time to ditch the BBC and bring back Big Brother!

And of course MOTD gets more viewers. The thing this highlighted to me is that ot doesn't really get that many viewers

A train wreck will always attract an audience. That doesn't mean we want more of them.

Two million isn't bad in this day and age. There would also normally be a lot of people watching it the next day on iPlayer.
Anyway, the BBC and Gary Lineker have come to a rapprochement.
