Guessing that the pay was a little more than the theatre.

I was reading recently that Stewart's agent advised him to take it, on the grounds that he would, for once, get a decent wage, and that in any case he'd be back within six months because The Next Gen would be cancelled.

Shows you how much agents know!

Although in fairness to the agent this was the prevailing view at the time.

I watched season on e of TNG a year or two ago. It isn't very good.
