Title: Argentina election: Javier Milei, TikTok economist, leads polls
Post by: Nearly Sane on October 21, 2023, 09:40:16 AM
Grifting takes many forms. I think the campaigning on Tik Tok is very clever though; to stand out from traditional campaigning especially by not doing the sad performance of posters versus posting. It's avoids some of the standard built in costs to campaigning, and in doing so emphasises being the outsider.

And given the general problems of incumbency at the moment, all the better for an outsider that gets it right.

And Milei wins. I think this is more illustrative of the difficulties of being an incumbent at the moment than any move to a specific political view. At least I hope so
